Trying to keep track of the current HTPC requirements for full HD-DRM compliance under VISTA hurts my head every time I try..... :)

I know there were quite a few cards (like my 1950pro) that went out with an early HDCP ready sticker on them yet they fail to meet all of the requirements (IIRC something to do with the component out configuration) for full HD content playback.

Do you know if the 8500 is also going to be HDCP?

The 8500GT does not support HDCP in stock form but then again, neither does the 8600GT.

On the other hand, manufacturers (like BFG in this case) can choose to equip their cards with a HDCP encoder chip.

The Gigabyte 8500GT is actually HDCP ready: GIGABYTE - Product - Graphics Accelerator - Overview

I was actually considering purchasing 2 of the GTS OC cards. After reading your review, I was rather disappointed with the performance. I guess I'll hold off a little longer and purchase 2 cards from the 8800 flavors.

Great review btw!

Or you could just buy 1 8800GTS 640MB....
