Q4 2009 and not before.

Think about it; why release next gen parts when the OS that supports DX11 rendering won't be released until September / October?

Reports seem to indicate that DX11 will be released for both vista and windows7. My guess is, though, that the majority of gamers will still stick with xp and dx9

Microsoft said many times that Vista will support DX11.

Then the majority of gamers are dumb because DX11 is suppose to be a major improvement over DX10 and DX10 is a pretty big improvement over DX9.

Is the DX11 API even finished yet?

I'm pretty content with DX9 myself. It's good enough, and half-decent hardware will run dx9 games phenomenal frame rates. I don't see the need to fork out for a new gpu just for extra eye candy unless my current card is stuttering due to low frame rates. Unless you have a huge monitor and game at high resolutions, there is IMO very little return for investment if you value gameplay over visuals. I use a 19" at 1280x1024.

I would think so. It's due to be released soon. But not before 7. Think about it, why would M$ release it for us Vista users when there trying to push yet another OS on the unsuspecting consumer.

As far as performance goes, Vista 64bit is every bit as quick with DX9 as XP is. DX 10.1 has/had the ability to be even faster, but as usual political monkey wrenches were thrown and devs never took early advantage of it. Mores the pity.
