Default 260GTX 216 and electricity bill...

Hey,

I am planning on purchasing a second EVGA 260GTX 216 Core 55NM video card and am wondering what kind of damage it would deal to my electricity bill. Some other info is as follows:

Paying 9.69 cents per kWh

Comp specs:

q6600 @ 3GHz
EVGA 260GTX (Soon to be SLI)
EVGA 750i FTW
1 HDD
4Gb RAM
1 CD/DVD Burner
Corsair 750TX PSU

Thank you

You wouldn't even need to pay for heating if you just up the core voltage on them all

Let me tell you about my electricity bill. Granted, I live in a 1300 square foot upper duplex and heat with electric baseboards but....$622 for the month of January.

However, the impact on your electricity bill should be minimal.

500 watts = .5 kwh per hour = 4.845 cents per hour

744 hours in a month * 4.845 = $36.05

I don't know what my bill is - it gets automatically withdrawn. However I have 8 machines in the household and I have never felt a sudden impact in lack of funds by upgrading CPUs or video cards.

Besides, I will cut down on many other things before consider the efficiency of my PCs. The higher end machines serve as heaters, too. No joke.

With constant CPU load from folding why would you?

I have a total of 22 CPU cores doing folding for the York University team. Last year I've been upgrading almost all of the household machines to quad core CPUs. Even the two machines at my cottage are both quads!
