Default Do people want xfire 3dmark results between a 4870x2 and a 4890 on 4.3ghz i7 ?

My 4890 has arrived. Hopefully my PS is up to the task. Results up hopefully in a few hours. Might be getting a 47" tv screen today to use as a computer monitor too later so the results might come tommorow.

I got to get my water block on the 4870x2 so I can have all three run at 850 those.

This system is testing my 850 watt PS. Max speed I can get with HT is 4.213ghz with turbo enabled.

Results with windows vista ultimate which would reduce my 06 score.

ORB - Result Analyzer

3DMark Score
27097

SM 2.0 Score
10289

SM 3.0 Score
13284

CPU Score
7447

There is definitely an improvement over just a straight 4870x2.

Definitely could be higher, I think my SM 3.0 is low

Clocks were 800/915 on the 4870x2.

Heres are some vantage results.
ORB - World of Performance

P21325 3DMarks
CPU Score 19886
Graphics Score 21852

They definitely are clocked at different speeds even when running. Here are the results with a 75mhz OC on the 4890, same clocks on the 4870x2 as the previous run. ORB - World of Performance

3DMark Score
P21640 3DMarks
CPU Score 19975
Graphics Score 22259

CPU score went up, don't know why, they are running at the same speed.

3dmark06 28736

OC of 800 on the x2 and 965 on the 4890 + 4.38 i7 (ht off those).

my predictions, 2x 4890 should beat the 4870xt, even if its overclocked.

Would be interested in your overclock results as well on the 90s

My prediction is that either it doesn't work at all or the HD 4890 downclocks to match HD 4870 X2 speeds.

no downclock. driver recognizes both as cards as 4800 under singlecard...so it doesn't matter. would wonder about sync issues, but it's no different than running an "overclocked" card anda stock one...same basic gpu...

I think we might see 4850/4870 disappear, if it wasn't for downbinning...1gb 4870's seem a bit useless now though, except for the $100-less price...

wouldn't be surprised to see it stop working though.

2x4890, 1x4870 working...:

woops misread, thought he would be comparing crossfired 4890s to 4870x2. Should have read more closely.

New prediction, world explodes. Never really liked the idea of mixed crossfire, always seemed to be asking for trouble.

Damn 3dmark 06 is taking forever to download.

In GPU-Z, both cards are clocked independenty. I.E 4870x2 = 750mhz 4890 = 850mhz

For some reason crossfire detects xfire and the 4870x2 but does not detect the 4890. GPU ID detect both.

I also got the tv just a couple hours ago, so that more reason for the delay.

I will have to get that 4870x2 under water ASAP. I just realized that my sound card won't fit anymore with both these videocards since both of these cards are double slots which cover over the pci slots.

Put up some 06 numbers, my power supply is making a squeeling sound.

Noticed a particularity.

06 freezes at loading when you have the 4870x2 in the top slot and the 4890 in the bottom slot. It works when the 4890 is in the top slot.

However I lose the ability to tune the speed in catalyst the speed of the 4890 when I have it in the working configuration.

Yes I am using 9.4. However, it looks like the drivers themselves are not futuremark approved, they are too new.

I will do vantage results tommorow.

I mean if things don't freeze or crash, I will post some vantage results.

But seriously, this system drinks too much juice I think, its really pushing my power supply to the max.

Once I get the water cooling up and everything overclocked for benching, this thing could consume 1000+ watts under load.

I.E The core i7 at 1.5volts, both videocards overclocked. Two water pumps going, 17 fans going. I hope I can improve my 3dmark to show for it.
