Default Dropping 9800GTXs for something more

What do you guys think about me dropping my 9800GTX sli for a single GTX 285 or something along those lines? Im curious as to weather id see any performance increase going to the 285, I know 2 9800GTXs are supose to beat out a GTX 280 in alot of cases but the 285 is supose to be a decent amount faster then its predisesor.

hmmm any sudgestions/opinions?

If you can afford it try and find a couple of GTX 260 Core 216 x2 SLI...that should do you just fine. Not sure what the numbers are like comparing single 280/85 to 9800GTX+....what res are you gaming on? My single 9800 GTX+ rocks along pretty good in Crysis Warhead FC2 etc etc on my wifes 22 inch.

20" but im looking at getting either a 22" with 19:10 rez or possibly just going to a 24"... so many choices right now. The 9800GTXs are great but I find im getting alot of tearing in some of the games im playing and it doesnt seem to be from which SLI render mode i use Ive tried all of them and they dont seem to clear it up. I still get stupid frames in Warhead if I leave it in Dx10 16:10 all gamer no AA/AF and I still only get 25-35 FPS. FC2 runs pretty decently though.

Huh....well, if your planning 22" Res I'd stick to 260 216 SLI....I had that set-up and it was very nice, however, if your planning 24" Res 2 x 280 / 285 provides for "cranking" all settings and silky smooth gameplay........but......considering all this high-end GPU Hardware, I'd consider upgrading your CPU first...you've already got a great Mobo and Memory, try beefing up the CPU and going with a single 275/85....then when you get al ittle more coin, get the second GPU.

Isn't it great...hahahahaha...the upgrade "bug" is highly addictive....just checked the Evga Web Site and my Classified Board shipped today :)

Oh nice! thatll be awesome to come home too =) Im planning on dropping the E7400 for a Q9550 here pretty soon, i want to wait and see what happens with pricing over the next couple of months. The Dually was always just a stand in for something better I just didnt have the budget at the time for anything more. Im thinking ill hold off a bit longer on video cards and see how the 3xx's look when they come out and maybe jump on something then, if I can keep my trigger happy finger away from the "add GTX 285 to cart" button.

I went and checked out that Gateway I7 PC today at futureshop, on a side note. I have to say I have mixed feelings about it. The motherboard is a gateway OEM mATX, the ram is in a loose timing 3x2+3x1 setup and it looks like cheap as hell ram too. The 4870 is pretty nice atleast its an actual card not a gateway rip off like the Acer aspires where using whenever they added a card to theirs. It would be a great PC for someone who wants to game on the cheap but it would need alot of work for me to seriously consider it as a full on gaming PC.
