Any chance we could get a delta chart up on the overclock power draw between the 'stock' settings and your max OC's for both the nV275 and the ATi4890 when you get some spare time? Longshot I'm sure, as I know you're busy SKYMTL but this info would be -very- useful.

I'm curious which chip actually scales better upwards in the mHz while running cooler/drawing less power.

And in regards to your paper vs hard launch question: Personally? I dont care. If I know a product is superior in a given price bracket, I will wait and purchase it. I did this with my Q6600 and still have no desire to upgrade.

To me, it just looks like on paper the 4890 is a superior product, as most of the ATi products this round have been. Arguably the core216 is the only decent comparison card value wise (this round). The only true 'fault' against ATi is the crappy Xfire and driver support they panhandle out. SLI and drivers by nVidia are far, far better.

Spare time? What is that? Want to know what I have sitting here on the sideline? iZ3D monitor, BFG GTX 275 OC, EVGA GTS 250, Gigabyte HD 4850 1GB, ASUS GTS 250 Dark Knight and a BFG 9800 GT Thermointelligence. No spare time unfortunately.

Must be nice. If you ever need some help with all that free hardware you collect, let me know

Great reviews as usual, definately worth staying up late for. Now I can't wait for your review on the BFG version of the GTX275 OC, hopefully it's my next card(s).

I know you are overloaded with work, but any chance for some Folding stats on these cards...

Looks like it would have to be pretty close to a GTX 285 at stock. Core is just a little slower, shaders just a little slower, but the same shader count. I would say 8000PPD on most projects, perhaps mid 8000s on the better WUs and a decent shader OC.

Would 2 GTX 275's be faster then a GTX 295?

In a word yes. I've seen preliminary prices that started popping up today for pre-orders set in the $339 CAD range and thats pretty much what the GTX 280s are going for on sale now ($299 last week in fact for a 65nm ver.) The card just seems to be a Frankenstein tbh. A 285 with a 260s ass end just seems like a different path to get to a 280s performance...And no price difference. I'll even go out on a limb here and say I predict that the 275 would in most cases beat a 280 at stock. I'm sitting on the fence until I see how it performs against the 280s. But wow! who would of ever thought even 3 years ago an enthusiast could get so much graphic power at ~$300

Edit: BTW SKY as per our H.A.W.Ks discussion...Man you definately were not kidding about the DX10.1 performance gains using the 4890. Thats shocking and most impressive. Team red here I come...j/k my folding friends

chriskwarran I see your using a Q6600@3.0 GHZ with 2 X GTX 285.Hows that working for you?
I have a Q6700@3.5 with 8Gb of
Mushkin Assents PC2 8500 and I didn't think I could push 2 of those.
I'm still using old ultras for now,but that going to change soon.

Please, make a review of HD4890 at 1000/1200 settings, and then see how it blows the competition.
