I remember my first CD ROM drive, I had to drive from Cold Lake to St. Paul to find a store that had one, it cost nearly $500 and came with about 7 CDs... times change. I bought my first single sided, single density floppy drive for a TRS-80 Model III in 1984 from Best Computers in Toronto by mail order, another $500 well spent!

I try not to worry about it any more, though I do remember the amounts fairly well it seems!

I remember Too the First CD Burners (at the time my Father had brought it home from his work).
I remember the Cost of the First DVD Burners too! And now we can get Sata ones at 10x the speed for 1/100th the cost.

Its just the way Technology Works I'm Afraid.
I Remember when I bought my Percisions Workstation from Dell.
Single Core 3.0 , and then poof! Core 2 !!

From the comments here, I think everyone seems to be paying alot of attention to the HD 4890. So, the question begs to be asked: as consumers, how do you feel about the paper launch by Nvidia? Does it mean you are ignoring their launch until stock becomes available?

Honestly speaking, the 4890 peaked my interest much more then the nvidia card did, and after reading through both reviews I grabbed one off of NCIX. I dunno, the Nvidia card feels lackluster compared to what the 4890 did.

Not "ignoring" it per-say, but not exactly an interesting card.

Not sure if thats been linked yet but looks like the XFX 4890 is up for pre order at FS, a little pricey for my tastes but if it comes in an X shapped box it must be good :p
