Great job as usual SKY!!

Personally, I find the fan profile is far too aggressive considering the relatively low temperatures we were getting after more than an hour under load.
Considering the issues I've had in the past with the profiles being set too low to keep the VRMs happy under load, I'd happily swap some fan noise for a profile that works. Now if only we can convince ATI to include a custom profile feature in CCC..... :)

I'm not quite sure what you mean. We actually used NEWER drivers than TPU for the GTX 275. In addition, their other Nvidia cards (except the GTS 250) were benched with VERY old 181-series drivers.

It won't change due to two reasons:

- ATI's CCC Overdrive maxes out at 1Ghz on the core. Until new apps support it, that's as good as it will get.

- Nvidia's card is voltage limited on the core side and latency limited on the memory side. I hit a brick wall with both frequencies and the clocks wouldn't go higher.

The 4890 is only 7 percent faster. Honestly to save a hundred dollars and thirty dollars, I think the gtx core 216 would have been a better buy. Add that the gtx 260 216(only the gtx 275 and the 4890 were tested with new drivers) was not tested with the newest driver and you might shrink that difference down to a few percent.
Once again, be very careful which reviews you quote. TPU is well known for benchmarking only games that allow timedemos or have built-in benchmarks. This gives a bit of a narrow window regarding how a card will play with newer games.

I'm curious to see if the speed is worth the price over the 260.
Ran a few quick tests this morning. At anything under 2560, you are looking at another 7-12%.

Now that I have a properly functioning SLI mobo, expect more Crossfire and SLI reviews.

So, when are these review units going up for grabs?

These units? Never. They will be used for ongoing testing.

Great job Mike, getting these up already = win. I posted at OCX and twitter and send url to Jay Marsden @ AMD who has been posting the 4890 reviews on his page.

Jay is actually our contact at AMD. We will see if / when he posts our review up. I won't say more since it is up to him.

Regarding the GTX 275 I'm wondering why the gtx 280 wasn't included in the game benchmarks SKYMTL. I'm holding my breath until I see them in stores but I suspect they'll retail between the price of the 260 and 280s obviously. Nvidia really split right down the center line on it's performance between it's older cards and I'm wondering if it's much ado about nothing. Just seems like a side step rebranding to me tbh.
