But anywho, once again, some great reviews!

Heh, thinking about it honestly, but newegg won't let me login! On an off note, any chance anyone knows a good ATI company for us Canadians, haven't owned an ATI card in a looooong time.

The 4890 is only 7 percent faster. Honestly to save a hundred dollars and thirty dollars, I think the gtx core 216 would have been a better buy. Add that the gtx 260 216(only the gtx 275 and the 4890 were tested with new drivers) was not tested with the newest driver and you might shrink that difference down to a few percent.

This is coming from a guy who has already bought the 4890 because I paid 280 it and bought if for the lulzs so I can pair it up to a 4870x2.
Hmm... That chart is interesting.
I'm interested in the 4890 mainly from all of the overclocking potential.
I hear all this about the 4890 besting the 285 when overclocked... But sometimes I forget that there isn't a huge performance delta between the 285 and 260-216...

I will still be holding onto my money for at least a little bit, however. I won't be surprised to see the 260 at $200 again. Also, I don't think it will take long for the 4890 to hit $300 or under at ncix with MIR.

As much as I like the performance of the 4890, I'll have to compare prices. My original intent was to pick up that 260 at $200 and sli it in the near future. Might still do that.

Plus a $20 MIR for XFX cards (the only worthy ATI cards, in my opinion)

It's hard to find clear reviews/benches featuring an overclocked (not oc model) 4890.
Comparing on on hexus, a fully oc'ed 4890 might beat a 260-216 by about 30ish%.

50% increase on the price, though...

What to do? A single 4890 would be great... But sli 260's?
Ack! I have an sli board and I'd like to utilize it if the price/performance ratio were right.

Hey SKY, any info on the performance deltas between the 4890 at stock and your overclocked speeds?
I'm curious to see if the speed is worth the price over the 260.

quick question, was the 1ghz a sustainable overclock with only the stock cooler?

and XFX is easily the best ATI cardmaker out there.

The HD 4890 1GB is the first card we have seen that can clock to 1Ghz (and beyond) on nothing but stock cooling. What more is there to say? Well, the memory overclocks like no one’s business too.
There you are!

Now to pick up some DDR3 memory and place my order!

People need to put this in perspective, the 4890 are not all good overclockers.

Techpowerup only got up to 885 and 925.
Hexus got up to 920 and 940. The 920 being on an xfx XXX.

By no means is 1000 a guarantee, from from all the reviews so far, more pick of the litter.

I read that, I was wondering if it would be safe to leave it like that...

meh, I dont care that much about getting 1k, around 950 would make me happy.
