As for how long you should run a stress test, if your card is stable it should run it for a week no problem.
Ummmm...no. All of Sapphire's samples came direct from batches destined for retail. They were shipped directly from the factory to reviewers without making a stop at Sapphire HQ.

If your temps are in line, it means your core/ram cannot tolerate that speed. Overheating will produce artifacts as well.

@ Sky, Is that what Sapphire told you? I know the majority of end users have not had such good results with a stock card. You'll have to forgive my jaded view of GPU claims as in the past I have not had the best experience with them. Not just Sapphire/ATi either.

No, that's what I know. My card came post marked from Althon Micro Canada which is Sapphire's main distributor here in Canada and DID NOT come from Sapphire or ATI HQ.

Hmm, that is good to know then. Hopefully more capable cards will get into customers hands than currently appears.

I have got mine to run 3dmark06 up to 975 I think. However this is with 100% fan which is actually louder than 100% fan on a 4870x2, quite a bit louder at that.

Anything over 50% is intolerable. I don't think 975 is stable those.

I find the results at xbitlabs a little hard to believe.

ATI Radeon HD 4890: 1GHz Conquered! (page 8) - X-bit labs

I remember call of duty 5 and crysis both favouring NV hardware previously. Considering that their front page is littered with AMD/ATI news, I am not so sure I can trust their results.

Have you tested crossfire 4890s?
