Anyone figure out a way to bypass 4870x2 powerplay?

I usually play games in windowed mode.
(I have a 22", 24" and 32" display)

One thing I've realized is ATi's cards always underperform
when I play games in window mode...
(both my 3870 and my 4870x2)

Anyone know how to bypass the default powerplay
settings on the cards?

I don't want to be getting bloody 30~40FPS @ 1600x1050
on all max settings while I play TF2... on a bloody 4870x2!

I used to use this guide: AMD Game Forums - How do you disable powerplay

yeah, create profile, edit profile.

But...to enable profile, sometimes you must click THREE TIMES before gpu clocks up. It varies from month to month whether it works right away, or needs a few clicks.

Let me try this again.

I tried about a month ago, and it works for older cards like the 3870,
sometime for the 4870 but not for the 4870x2... :(

Got the new Catalyst drivers so, let me see if ATi did something

Somewhat works...

FPS goes up a little bit, but the card or the motherboard starts making some weird
arse buzzing/whining noises... Doesn't seem natural...
