Default IS the 4890 crossfire compatible with the 4870*2?

Is the 4890 crossfire compatible with the 4870x2?

I am wondering this because I have a chance at a good deal on a 4890 and I wonder if they are compatible or not.

Xtremesystems is down, so I can't find out there.

I can't speak for any upcoming graphics card but mixed Crossfire has always given me "mixed" results.

Although there both 4800 series the thing that might make them incompatible, is the rumored optimization they did.

I have a waterblock for the 4870x2 which will probably allow me to reach 850.

Also would my 850watt antec quattro have enough juice for a core i7 thats overclocked, has two water cooling pumps(mcp655), the 4870x2 and the 4890.

So, you're asking about the rumors that the answer is yes, and you're looking for confirmation, because other sources only have rumors?

Does that clearly state what you're asking?

Then my reply is; Wait for a confirmation when someone has a card in hand and says yes/no, and dont listen to rumors.

Or, spend your money based on rumors. Hell, its your money

Here's some useful links:

4890 crossfire 4870X2? - Guru3D.com Forums
AMD Game Forums - 4870x2 + 4890 in crossfirex

You can Crossfire a 4890 with a 4870X2. How good a deal have you got on a 4890. You'd rather buy a Sapphire 4870 as they're extremely cheap right now, although this post is about a month old so you may have already bought the 4890. Or get a 4770.

Don't bother either way. Save the money and buy a 5000 series card; should be out by the end of the year. The performance gain isn't that great when crossfiring cards with a 4870X2.
