Interestingly, I was just talking the other day with someone about the possibility of a GPU bottlenecking a CPU in games. This may be one of those cases.

They arent really saying its the ram thats slowing it down canadianguy, its the cards themselves. the ram thats on a video card wont effect how the video card itself runs inside a PC with DDR3 ram. Since the video card is in essence its own motherboard/cpu and ram that run seperate from the computer to render graphics sent and received over the PCIe bus. The ram on the video card is never in direct contact with the rest of your computer, it is only acsessed by your video cards GPU.

Anything less then a 9800GT\4830 is going to severly cripple an i7 cpu in any gaming you do. And thats not because of ram, its the fact that the onboard GPUs dont have the processing power to output high res graphics at any kind of decent speeds.

Damn, i7 and 9500GT? You must be outta your mind! The i7 alone could probably get more FPS in a game than that 9500GT!

Please, I beg thee, get a 4850, or GTS 250, or 9800GTX+, or SOMETHING, man!

to late Imma he already pulled the trigger... I listed a perfectly good Core 2 quad build that would have easily opened his budget up to getting a GTX260 or something in that price range while still getting everything he bought, but he had to have I7. Q9550 + GTX260 >>>>>>> i7 920 + 9500gt/4670 anyday. Plus I highly doubt in the situations his computer will be in he would see the difference between a C2Q with DDR2 and an i7 and DDR3, but the choice was his ;)

Ya, I definately would go more then a 9500gt. If you are going for the future, get the gts250 or whatever they call it now. I have the 9600gt, and overclocked nicely. In the benchmarks I performed it well exceeded the 9500gt's bandwidth. I actually, though I dont remember exactly, but I believe the 9600gt would be better then even two 9500gt's in sli. So if you are on a budget the 9600gt would do, but go for the future and get one of the new rebranded nvidia video cards.

I tried to switch out for a Radeon 4670 at the last minute but they sent me the 9500gt instead. I am happier with this card than I thought I'd be, and since it's evga I can try their 90day step-up if I want. I'll have money to upgrade in a couple months. You can all say whatever you want, but I did what I had to do. This way I was able to get a monitor and a bamboo tablet... and some software that I wanted. I don't own any games besides Oblivion and Black&White2 and this card plays them both really well.

Meh, overclocked i7 rapes OC'ed 9550, but the GPU really brings it down either way. Get i7 ONLY, and ONLY if you can afford a decent, VERY decent card, i.e. AT LEAST 4850!
