Default Can I run my G31 integrated graphics with my 4870?

I'm trying to figure out if I can boot up from integrated x3100 graphics so I can flash my 4870 firmware. If I enable the internal graphics in BIOS the 4870 does not seem to be active in any configuration. Do PCI-E lanes get reallocated to the x16 slot when I stick an external card in?

Your talking about your ASUS p5kPM-CM motherboard right?

If so, i think you can run the pc without an GPU when you set the initiate graphic adapter to [IGD]

Not 100% sure tho.

Yes, it's my ASUS p5kPM-CM. I made sure that the internal graphics were enabled along with the PEG. I'll try a few more combination of bios options tomorrow.

Does that force x1 PCI/E option do anything that is worth playing with?

Thanks for the reply.
