Default GTX 260 Core 216 VS GTX 280

Would you say the GTX 280 outperforms the GTX 260 core 216?

I havent been able to find a straight answer to this. I notice the shaders are lower on the 260, but thats about it.

is the price difference really worth it?

Whats your opinion.

Thanks!

For me, I'd just get the GTX260 C216. The extra money to get that 5 to 10% performance improvement is not worth it.

What resolution are you going to be gaming at?

NCIX has a BFG GTX280 on sale for 329. I paid almost that much for my SSC GTX 260 216 last week. If I'd seen that sale beforehand, I'd have bought the 280.

lets put it this way!

Ncix have XFX core 216 for $209.99 vs GTX 280 $320

If i were you, ill jump for the lower priced before it gets sell out. XFX usually have higher resell value too.

But if you think that $100 extra is well worth the tiny performance mention above, grab the gtx 280.

And besides 40nm GPU are just around the corner, hang tough for now

just get gtx260 core 216... or gtx285... gtx280 is not that expensive (a bit worthless) and slower than gtx285...

I picked up the 260, core 216 for 219. after getting the EK waterblock, fittings, and clamps, it came to 507. Had to pick damn ground shipping, the first time i've never had the air shipping promo. :(
