I actually bought the EVGA GTX260 Core 216 55nm from NCIX on sale last friday (FRiday the 13TH). So $219 after MIR. Nice thing is there was a DVI to HDMI adapter bundled with it (not mentioned on NCIX...). I realize those are cheap when bought online, but can be pricey when purchased in town (think FUTURE selling those for around $45)

The best tho...I got lucky. The sku is: 896-P3-1255-A1 (vanilla one with core at 576Mhz)...the card actually runs at "Superclocked" speeds right out of the box, as it is...really nice...so I get clocks/shaders/memory from the 896-P3-1257-AR...

It's actually the second time that this happens to me. Both times from NCIX. My EVGA 8800GTS 640Mb came the same way...purchased a vanilla one and got an SC one instead. I feel like a lucky B4stard...

I guess that's what they do when they have to distribute quickly a lot of cards...
They take a higher binned SKU and put another sticker on both card and box...It's the only explanation, I don't think they would "BIOS-FLASH" vanilla cards, just to be nice.

I assume that my card and those from the same batch are probably "higher-binned" cards. I might be wrong, but I'll OC it and come back with the results...

I agree that all sales prices seems like the best price until next sale...you jump on an item and figure out they sold it for cheap cause other models are coming out.

In this case tho, the price was REALLY good. They had 80 for sale at that price. The sale started on Wednesday night, and I bought it on Friday morning (07h30 am Quebec time) and at noon, there was none left. Then, they set the price back to normal.

Hey Devalan,

I have the same 8800gts 640, 112 sp model.
I'm running off a q6600 at 3.0ghz and 4gb of ram on vista 64.
I game at 1920x1200 (unless the framerate drops too much), and I was wondering how your upgrade to the 260 216sp was treating you?

I can pick up the 260 216 for $200, and I'm not sure if it's worth it.
Common sense tells me to wait for either a bigger price drop or a larger performance increase, but I'm not sure... My will-power is weak at the moment.

What do you think?
