ABS (anybody but Sapphire). (Unless you're buying local from a shop that offers their own on-site 1 yr warranty).

I'm going to throw another vote in for XFX. Their support and warrenty are miles above the other ATi vendors, they really were a godsend for the ATi market, maybe the other vendors will start to shape up.

I can't believe no one has brought up XFX, probably the best choice for an ATI card these days.

I'm actually really digging my Asus EAH4870 1GB Dark Knight card. Very stable and very fast, plus it overclocks to 840/1050 no problem.

I have utterly no idea from where so many buyers are getting this notion that XFX is ATi's prophetic golden board partner.

This is their first ever ATi product.

Warranty that exceeeds what all the others offer, reference design with custom-colour pcb? I don't get where you get the notion that the company who assembles thier boards hasn't been doing it for ages either...

Remember XFX just slaps a label on cards...maybe changes the B.O.M. a tiny bit...

But Lifetime warranty? OK to remove cooler? Who else from teh ATI camp offers that? That warranty speaks volumes of how confident they themselves are in their products...and should things go wrong, they'll be the ones replacing the cards...and ofr us in N.A, XFX is far closer than ASUS, Sapphire, HIS, or any of the others.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I'm just wondering if i should heed exmortis' warning and wait for newer versions of the card to be released. What do you all think? Is now a good time to buy the XFX 4870 or should i wait for something newer to come out, or has the 4870 seen all variations already?

If you wait, you'll be waiting forever, theres ALWAYS something new around the corner. In this case there is nothing new coming out for at least 2 months. When it comes to the 4870 I think its safe to say we've seen most variations that can be done, have been done.

Go with the XFX, you won't be disapointed.
