My System Specs

I second Sky recommendations, although a videocard might not require additional power it does put a lot more stess on the system and your psu won't last near as long. Be very mindful of any additional items you put in, like another HDD or a more powerful cpu in the future.

Regards,

EE

Another thing is that ATI is often a better choice for HTPCs. It may be just me but I have always found ATI to have a better quality image than nVidia cards. I'm not a fanboy either I have an 8800GT in my main comp and a 4550 passive cooled in my HTPC. You won't be disapointed with the 4650 or 4670. They also can do 7.1 audio via the correct HDMI connection :)

I've been trying to get the 5.1 7.1 to work through the hdmi cable. I have the spdif header patched to the vid card but no luck with sound.

Search Google for Realtek ATI HDMI Drivers. The you need to go into your Device Manager in Windows and switch the audio output to your HD 4670.

Just make sure that you install the 8.12 or 9.1 drivers properly. If you need help with that, let us know.

thought I'd work on getting sound out my hdmi tonite but no luk so far I belive I have the latest realtek drivers installed audio version 6.0.1 directx 10.0 audio codecs alc838 Can not locate 8,12 or 9.0 even tried google. Im also still playinh with the 9500gt. The realtek sound manager has a digital coax out put and I could buy a cable to patch from pc to my yamaha 2700 but I'd rather do hdmi.

Whoops, how are you playing with both cards at the same time? You should uninstall the drivers from one before working on the other.
