Would an high end WC parts + 4870x2 block + ati 4870x2 cost that much if build from scratch?

i know a 4870x2 would cost about $600

It's about a $200 premium over what it would cost you to do up a loop yourself. There is something to be said though for a warrantied out-of-the-box closed loop WC'd vid card, and you get the cool box that looks like the president's "football".

i see, its only about $200 more.

Thanks for the info steve, i never knew WC would only cost around $200 , though it would cost more.

The fact that the card is a limited edition, i think it be worth the extra $200, but on a side note that the cpu cooling sucks even at underclock.

Would be a better deal if it was just the block and the card, and a lower pricing

I want to see the results of the cooling on this card. However, that being said, i would never pay $1000 for a video card. I would rather get 2 gtx280's

Well, for the cost, I could get GTX285 SLi...definately gonna be faster, IMHO...but then I have to buy a new board(running BlackOps currently)...if i buy a new board, then there's no reason not to go i7...I think x58 is crap though...not impressed with Corei7 either...I want AM3, really, but cannot get it yet...

TBH, I'm a bit sick of upgrading my pc every month or two. I don't really feel secure in the future of 4870x2...but GTX285 is the same...GRRR...like everyone else, the more I think about it, the less I know what I want...

My suggestion is be strict about your upgrades make it 6-8 months minimum and you know as well as all of us that "secure for the future" in computer hardware isn't feasable. I had my AMD system for 2 years it wasn't a blazing fast computer but it did play some of the most current games very well, adding the GTX280 made it an even better system. Sadly upgrading often is the price we pay for being computer enthusiasts, but you can control that.

Looking at your situation getting a 4870x2 wouldn't be a bad decision it plays currents game very well and even future games will perform just fine, heck you could add another later on Qaudfire can only get better with time. What card do you have right now?
