all the 4850 with reference cooler from ati runs real ultra hot 80C +. But the ones with non reference cooling like the ones from asus's gladiator cooling solution or the sunflower types keeps the GPU nice and cool. My sunflower 2600xt idles at 39C and loads at 54C max, fanspeed at 59%

Just for reference, I'd say the HD4830 is more on-par with the 9800GT.

HD4850 is similar to the 9800GTX+.

And if you look into those cards, you'll see they are very closely priced.

Oh if you can pony up a bit more money, this would be really good:

rofl and the 4850 uses less power than the 9800GTX+ as well.

Read the reviews of various brands of 4850 on NCIX and on the web. They mostly ALL complain that these suckers are HOT.

Thats what i though too, but way too many NVidia fanboys out there And theres stills some of them that won't admit that the 4850 Out performs the 9800gtx in highest settings . Will probably aim for the 4850, just waiting some more info about the RV790. Still no news from ATi

Due to nvidia's naming scheme and rebranding, people like me are going in circles on choosing there products
