Default 2x GTX260 vs. 4870x2

I currently have 2x EVGA GTX260 in SLi, but I was considering selling the 260's and getting a single 4870X2 and when the prices drop possibly a second.

which is the better setup? I have an Asus striker II extreme board and Q9550 1000w corsair modular psu, setup is 99.9% gaming

Well your board is SLI compatible. So you might as well stick with the nvidia cards. Unless you purchase a new board. I have a 4870x2 and a Q9550...probably the same PSU haha...but it's definitely a good card. The whole nvidia vs ATI concept seems pointless to me because each of them are going to come out with different cards that are better than the last one the opposing company put out. You never really get the full potential as they're always rushed to keep up. The only thing that makes games look better on nvidia cards is the PhysX thing, I'm sure a fanboy will try to make nvidia sound so much more superior and try to correct me on that statement... but that's it. Essentially their cards are the same and they're doing the same thing.
Also keep in mind if you were to get 2 4870x2 cards, that board couldn't run them in "quadfire" (4 GPU crossfire) as it's not crossfire compatible.
