Default 8800 overclocking comparison

Hey all, im bored at work and firgured i'd start a whos overclock is bigger thread (and to see if mabey I should try and squeeze some more juice out of it).

For those of you that use a 8800 card what kind of overclocks have you getten out of it? tell us what kind of cooling you use as well.

After running ATItool, I've determinded the highest clock I can get on my EVGA 8800 GTS(640mb) is 650/1015 on stock air cooling at 100% fan speed

count me out. not to hijack your thread or anything but the 8800 series is very CPU dependant. I did a 15% overclock on my 640MB GTS and saw no increase in 3dmark06 scores on my 165 Opty. Im sure your C2D will tell a very different story.

Just some food for thought

carry on ;)

Ya i've noticed a difference in 3dmark06 scores, mind you I dont have internet right now so i can check the final score. But by compairing fps at different point in return to proxima and the final fram score it makes a pretty good difference.

mine is at 621/1450/999mhz @ 75c 100% I always underclock a touch once I reach my max simply to prolong the life of the card but I had it running at 650/1100 can't remember what the shader was at.
Also, check RivaTuners hardware monitor out as I read that these cards Don't necessarily run at the exact speed you clock them to but have an average within a certain parameter which also controls the OC of your shader memory
It improved my score in 3DMark06 and also sent my Aquamark3D score from 154000 to 157000 which is an incredible increase for a single card

The highest I can get even with water cooling is 685 and 1100- It's quite disappointing since the WC keeps it's load temps below 42- I really hoped that such a dramatic temperature drop would allow for a much higher overclock. I wonder what the limitation is..

I keep mine at 650 1000 for day to day use.

ya, I did have it running at 675/1020 and the DX10 lost planet demo ran fine but I started to get wierd display glitches when I ran 3dmark 06. So I just dropped it back down to 650/1015 rather than trying to find an imbetween spot.

Riva tuner has it marked as running 1-2mhz higher than what I clocked the memory and core as.

One question does it matte rthat the shader clock in rivatuner is yellow? i'll get what its running at after.

I overclocked my XFX 8800 GTS 640 MB just to see how high I could get it and I got it up to 650/1020 on stock air cooling ... I leave it at stock speeds because I've only got an AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ at 2 GHz (was on a tight budget when I built the computer, so I bought cheap used memory), so there's no point in overclocking it due to CPU limitation.
