Dude, Tri SLi, or at least till the GTX 350 is out. I think it's supposed to be a GTX280 GX2, but I'm not sure. Theres an EVGA GTX 280 on sale now for $350 after $20 MIR, I would go that way.
Dude.........seems funny seeing and saying that when your 40+ yrs old....the GTX 280 for $349 is a good deal, but if I were to Tri Sli my 280 SSC's I'd drop the extra $40 and get the 280 SSC's I posted in the NCIX Link....chances are that vanilla 280 may not OC as high as my present Cards....then I'd have to back down the OC's....why cripple 2 Cards by saving $40????

Cheapest GTX 295 is at $599.99 CAD. now lets sit back and let the previous generation cards to drop
The 280's are already down to $349 - $389 for Vanillas to SSC Editions......I don't see them coming even further down then that, not until the new 3xx Series are out anyhow!

I keep seeing you post that, I wrote it off at first, but now its bothering me.

No hard feelings, but I gotta correct you. The GTX 295 IS the 280GX2. The memory is using a smaller bit length with hobbles the card a bit(due to reduced memory bandwith) but otherwise the 2 GPU's used in the 295 are the same ones as in the 285.

Now I haven't read much into the rumours of the GTX 3xx series(I know nothing about them, other than they are due out soonish), but even in the worst case scenario where the 3xx series is just a re-badge like the 9xxx series were, that doesn't change the fact that the GTX 295 IS the GTX 280 GX2 which you speak of.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the GTX 3xx series cards will be AS FAST as GTX 280 SLi, but I digress.

Thnaks for clearing that up Chilly.....I thought that was what it was...meaning a 295 was simply 2 sandwiched 280's. But based up[on those benches a 280 SLI arrangement is still faster than a single 295, but I would expect the 3xx Series to change that outcome!!

EDIT: Just went over to Evga Web Site - I could step-up one of my 280's to a 295 for about $75.
Lucky sob, mine expired 2 days after the GTX260 55nm was released and with 285 on the horizon its even a bigger blow.

Yeah I'd hope to see some jump on the 65nm GTX280 its a space heater, but if prices came down to around $325-$375 it would be an awesome buy.

Yeah just seeing the GTX 280 vanilla for $349 and the 280 SSC Edition for $389 are pretty bloody good prices.....I always figured the 260 216 Core was the "best bang for the buck" GPU, but with that slide in cost I'd have to say the 280 takes that reign now. On a side note I checked out the price of the 4870x2 on NCIX and the thing is still sitting at around $700...! That price should come down now you'd think!
Anyhow...no more GPU's for me for awhile....gotta work towards that I7 upgrade!

Unless ATI pulls a rabbit out of that...they may just be on the wrong side of the fence for a few months now, unless they have something up thier sleeve to meet the GTX 3xx Series head on!!!! Lets hope, as I said in the past, should be a good year for GPU's.......I can't wait to see how my 280 SLI's work with the Core I7!!!

I like the look frankly its different from the norm and it really helps minimize those awful graphics that many of the vendors have been putting on their cards. EVGA especially the 55nm GTX260 and 280 look pretty awful, honestly they must have given the task to some college out there in California to the first year graphic artist students.

If you remove the Evga decals on the 280 your left with a fairly mainstream looking nVidia GeForce decal....underneath!
