The above link may or may not work .
It takes you to the download site. But the download wouldn't work
To download look in the bottom right corner for the "download" option

So i searched the name on the database and came up with this one.

Edit: I was later able to download the version "batespro" posted,
(2shared - download RV770.bin)
Which worked better for my card.

The following Version allowed me to get to post, but i had to uninstall all my drivers in safe mode, to load Vista 64 normally.

I used Driver Sweeper to do this.

It also wouldn't load the Vista Welcoming screen with any drivers installed.
Only use it as a last resort, it will allow you to access your computer but forget gaming.

2shared - download RV770.bin

For Atiflash Procedure / Help please refer to Wizards Guide

This is a Step By Step for those who have no idea what there getting into

techPowerUp! :: Guide to Video BIOS flashing

I recommend USB Stick

Make a copy of all your files! As they will be erased during Formatting!!!

Here is a guide specific to using a USB Stick ( Flash Drive)

Guide to Ati 4870 Bios flash(top asus bios flash included) - WCCFtech.com

PLEASE NOTE! If your Mother Board DOSE NOT!! have a second PCI or PCI-E or AGP Slot

Do not attempt a Flash otherwise your screwed, also note having a Second graphics card can come in handy if you corrupt your first one. thus you can put the other graphics card in Primary Graphic's Card slot and the Corrupted bios in another one. Allowing you to flash the Bios.

If you do end up using another card to flash your first one, MAKE SURE you flash the right card

If your using Atiflash, in dos time "atiflash -i" without the quotation marks
This will bring up all the ATI cards install in adapters.
If the card your using to boot with is not ATI it will only bring up one card specs.

I hope this helped someone

Thank You to all who have created articles and posts on this topic

Why not Techpowerup? Wizzard is awesome!

He fixed the 4870's release bios.(ddr5 issue) I think that's how it happened? Long time ago, Galaxy far, far away!NeverMind

You need to boot off a pci video card and flash your 4870! I'd use a command line.
After the flash, see if you can boot off the 4870. If you were successful, everything should be fine! You can start breathing again.

If no, PaperWeight! How did you wreck the Bios?

I updated it with the wrong version off Asus site.

That didn't total blow it over, it just wouldn't load video application's

After looking all over the place i found Asus 4870, "Top", flashing it with that left me black screened.

I've been trying to flash with files off of techpower and mvktech with no success.

I turned a mp3 player into a dos fat stet up, loaded atiflash on it with the rom / bin file.

I've an evga geforce 7200 as my primary gpu so i can boot from the mp3 player, which in turn loads the dos command winow, that allows me to use atiflash to flash the bios.

everytime it says file size 20,000 does it's little thing and then say's restart, i do.

I don't know how to switch between the two cards on the bio's so i manually pull them out and swap them.

~ Start Up details ~

Fire it up, the gpu fan spins on starts up then stops and i get the lovely black screen.

I've also noticed on start up 3 out 4 red led lights flashing on the gpu?

If this is the article you mean

techPowerUp! :: How to recover ATI Radeon HD 4870 from bad BIOS flash

I've already tried that file with no luck. I've also emailed Asus but they haven't replied.

If i can't figure it out i'm going to try and cash in on my 1 yr warranty from itechsystem's, or the 3yr warranty from Asus.

I'd be surprised if nobody out there has an ASUS 4870 to help you out.... could be somebody does but doesn't know how easy it is for them to get an image of their bios to send you?

Maybe you should post links to the software and a short set of instructions for copying the bin file.

Isn't there a radio button in GPUZ that copies your bios?
That's pretty easy!

My 4870 will start up then it will shut of and the mobo won't go to post,
But when I put the other PCI-E graphics card in the 1st slot, the 4870 in 2nd slot fan will keep spinning?

any idea's why this happens?

My mobo's P5Q-E
