With the instability I've been having, I might end up with the EVGA and sell the Giga

These look really interesting... I was going to go with a 280 in the new year but I may just sit tight and see what the real price is. If the MSRP is $500USD then once we findout the real street price these may not be too over the top to justify the price difference over the 280 given the performance boost. Unless of course the 280's are taking a good price drop.

P6T!

Or you can just wait for me to get mine going and we can compare EVGA/ASUS lol!

Won't be done till after Xmas,

A) I'm probably going to get one of these video cards

B) I still have yet to finish my Cosmos S mod entirely haha, got lots of time this holiday to tho!

Great review! I mean preview! Awesome job. Although I am gonna try to wait till DX11 to purchase a new GPU. Hopefully before tax refund the first DX11 cards come out. Oh and then buy a good 30" monitor too. Can hardly wait till tax refund!
Ha ha, we must be one of the few people who look forward to tax time, I love tax time, so much fun, and usually, tax refund! Now I know it isn't but then I get the direct deposit to my bank account, it always *feels* like free money.

You sure its the Giga board? Having no personal experience, perhaps I shouldn't be talking, but I've heard nothing but great things about the boards.

That's the thing.

I've seen both sides of the coin with this board (as with any, I'm sure).

Some guys are getting great clocks with no issues.

My thing is, I'm probably expecting too much out of the stock cooler, even though I keep the volts at stock.

It's just strange. It clocks up to 3.2 GHz on stock volts. The temps max out in the 80-83 range on Prime95 (which is about what happens on air on this chip!).

Then it runs Prime stable for 12 hours no problem, but craps out in BOINC at random times. Anyway, I think I'm veering SKYMTLs thread way off topic here

Overall, I'm going to wait to see the results with the GTX 295 and some more cards, but I still think the GTX 285 might be the way I go. Not sure yet...

Can't wait to see AMD's response to this. Last I read, release in June 2009
