Great review sky!!

It would have been nice to see 1920x1200 res, but I agree that the 2 res's used do show the best and worst case scenario. It will be interesting to see the value or cost per fps breakdown of SLI and crossfire, I suspect that the GTX280 won't fair to well against the 4870x2 and won't resonable justify the cost. Its likely that the GTX260 core 216 will prove a better value here.

@ Miggs me thinks its time for a bigger monitor

Good review, just a hinch tho, from page 3 :
"The 1GB version of the HD 4870 is the newest addition to ATIís higher-end lineup and was introduced to combat the newer GTX 260 with 216 shaders. It wasnít released in huge qualities right after its release but that was then and currently this card is widely available at major retailers everywhere."

Great review, SKY. Very thorough and very informative.

Really, it seems like you can't go wrong with a GPU at this point in time.

I'm very happy I decided to get the 260 Core 216 instead of the 280, though I'm still going to take a long hard look at the GTX 285 when it's released.

Amazingly awesome detailed article, thank you SKY! Confirms my opinion that the GTX 260 is probably the best value for me if I want to upgrade soon. Looking forward to part 2. Keep up the great work we really appreciate it. :)

was waiting for this article, great job. Looks like a made a good choice getting my 9800gtx+ since it seems to beat the 4850 in fps value :D

FYI, a slight error seems to have occured with 7 results (out of nearly 300) in the $ / FPS calculations.

The necessary charts will be updated ASAP.

Sorry about that guys. I was just going over the Excel function codes I used in some of the first charts I did and found an error. Like I said, only 7 results were affected. :(
