Default High Pitched whine + GTX280

As stated in the title my GTX280 is emitting a high pitched whine when under load is this normal or should be some cause for concern?

I have done some research on the web and no one has a solid answer to the problem other than suggesting to RMA the video card. I was hoping if any other owners of the GTX280 might be able to tell me if they have experienced the same issue and what if anything they've done about it.

Regards,

EE

Exactly Phobia folding is probably when its at its worst.

@ Enaberif I figured so, and I am without a proper backup gpu so thats out of the question.

Thanks very much guys

mine does that when crysis starts up then it stops when it loads the map completely, its normal. same for any graphic intense game, does not happen in normal pc usage.

This is an issue that has existed since the days of the 8800GTX and perhaps earlier.

Yep, my 8800 Ultra when I still owned it did the exact same thing, got me all worried at first like you too till I found out its a common issue.

Both my 280s did that noise under load from folding. It's annoying I agree...

The noise is present with my GTX 280 and was present with my 8800 GTS 512 while folding

If you have the noise while running a game, I am going to recommend you enable V Sync.
