Ok, so one question, did you ever have any other ATi driver installed? this can happen when windows detects the card, and installs the latest driver as identified by windows update as being valid...which means each card may be running on a different driver.
Remove your current driver, and when it asks to reboot, say no, go to device manager and remove the vgas from there as well, deleting the driver. upon reboot, windows should install default vga driver, then you can isntall catalyst software.
Yah, there's even some articles about this with benchmarks to prove it. Good thing Far cry 2 runs like a dream on my single 4850. I hope Fallout 3 does as well. I don't want to buy a new mobo now, i7 is just around the corner. There will be mobo's supporting both Xfire and SLi.
Vista and XP are all but neck and neck for performance
I must admit....I am awefully tempted to install Vista so I can see how my gmaes perform on my Rig with DX10....really tempting indeed, just hate the thought of all those "installs" n "updates"...ugghh!
