Looking into future... I would get the DX10 ready one. The 8600GT.

Why does it HAVE to be Nvidia? Persoanlly, I would grab the X1950Pro that is on sale at NCIX this week.

Personal preference, I've had better luck with NVIDIA over ATI cards. NVIDIA (besides the new beta drivers) have produced better drivers than ATI IMO.

I did not see the 9700 GS KO for $150.

I have a *** ed 7600 and IMO they are a waste of the extra cash just get something a little lower and overclock it your self, I'd say 8600 or the 7900 but I would lean towards the 8600 because of dx10.

8600's are hardly worth the money. Get something cheap and wait awhile before jumping on the DX10 bandwagon. 7900GS KO is a killer card (I got 2, LOL!) or the X1950 PRO. Skip the 8600's, they are WEAK!!!!!! Better midrange DX10 cards will be out by years end. Besides that, if you don't have Vista then you don't need DX10.
