Default Video card getting hot

I had my 4850 for about umm... 3 months now. Its been alright, i ramped up the fan speed to about 48 using the profile. Now that i went to catalyst 8.9 its getting too hot. 90C + , now i know for sure this isn't the temps i should be getting. Especially if i took the side panel out and i opened my windows for cold fresh air. Any suggestions? (I'm going back to 8.8 at the moment to see if anything changes.)

This is exactly the reason i went with a 9800gtx+ over a 4850, those things run HOT, even that is way too high for the cord though, try taking some compressed air to the heatsink and getting all the dust out, also make sure that case has good cooling and air flow

The default Ati fan settings seem to suck. 8.9 put my x2 20ºC above what the Diamond drivers did. I'd use Rivatuner or AtiTool and up the fan speed. (If I could...)

so is the 8.9 the culprit? or do i need more airflow in my case? (CM690). If so, anyone got good suggestions to replace 3 120mm Fans (the stock coolermaster ones don't seem to blow anything, im going to guess the front, side and back are all 120mm). I can also fit 1 120mm or 140mm on top, can't use the other one because of the vendetta 2.

Well i think i found the culprit, the 4850 was loaded up with dust. I know it sounds stupid of me not to clean it, but when i looked at the fan it wasn't that dusty. I closely looked into it and i found piles of dust, sad part is i didn't have a compressed air spray. Might pick one up tomorrow

Dust is usually the issue when it comes to heat problems.

Thats interesting DR Bend, that the 8.9's increased your temps so much, I didn't notice much of a difference between 8.8 and 8.9.

As for fans some medium-high speed Yates or Scythe fans would do you just fine, depending on your noise tolerance. The Zalmans off NCIX seem to be pretty popular as well although I haven't owned any myself.

Well something with the sound of a 4850 with the fan speed of 30-50% would be fine. I don't really care for sound cause if im using my PC, its usually going to be for games, music or movies. I'm kinda annoying at the design of the 4850's stock heatsink, hopefully in the future ill get the accerlero S1. Oh yea and if anybody has the CM690, could they tell me what kind of fan configuration they got? I was planning to get my top 120mm and front to blow cold air in. My side and back to blow the hot air out. I don't really know what i should do with my bottom one though...
