So it seems that you are right that my power supply does not have enough juice to power the card. I tried my friends 750tx corsair and it boot up fine on my motherboard. I'm currently looking for a 750 PSU to pickup. Do you have any recommendations ? I've been looking at the PC power and Cooling vs the 750tx, although a modular psu would be ideal for me. I followed ars technica's guide and they said that the 625 Modu82+ was good enough for two 4870's.. :(. Two 4870's eat up more juice than one single 4870x2 so no way that is happening :S

For a modular power supply, there are a few options depending on your price range. Silverstone DA750: Canadian Prices: SilverStone Technology - Silverstone Decathlon DA750 750W 20/24 Pin Power... - DA750 Silversont DA850: Canadian Prices: SilverStone Technology - Silverstone Decathlon DA850 850W 20/24 Pin Power... - DA850 Antec Truepower Quattro: Canadian Prices: Antec Incorporated - Antec Truepower Quattro 850W Power Supply ATX V2.2... - TPQ850 Silverstone Strider 850W: Canadian Prices: SilverStone Technology - Silverstone Strider 850W power supply - ST85F I would lean towards the Silverston DA850 PSU for its single +12V rail. |

How is the antec signature 850? HardOCP has a review of it here : [H] Enthusiast - Antec Signature Series 850 Power Supply Nevermind it seems a bit out of my budget, ill take a look at Antec's True Power Quattro 850w

I was taking a look at enermax website and saw that they offer different modular cables. there is a solo and dual pci-e modular cable seen here: http://www.enermax.com.tw/admin/pic/...3562273509.jpg http://www.enermax.com.tw/admin/pic/...1356382190.jpg The ones that came with the retail box were only dual. Think if i run one solo pci-e cable from each plug on the psu (1-1) to the 6 and 8 pin it would solve my problem?

Don't buy enermax, PLS. I've lost all faith in then as a quality PSU manufacturer, even though I use 1000watt DxX PSU. IF I opened my PSU up and showed you the insides... ![]() I think the corsair unit is a nice unit. When it comes to Crossfire with 2900XT, or 4870x2, it is best to tr yto stay away form quad-rail units, unless 1000W or greater. |
