I'm having a problem with my pagefile being constantly accessed even while idle with no programs running. Once I start a game though it skyrockets and I get stuttery gameplay. No matter what size I make the pagefile, or even if I disable it, its still is being accessed when I pull up the Task Manager. No extra processes running only 16 a boot. Its seems to be ignoring my RAM and just unloading everything on the pagefile instead. I have 2GB of OCZ SLI Memory and Memtest founds 0 errors so its not faulty RAM. Running XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Some numbers from the Performance tab (Physical mem, total and aval.) in the Task manager might be useful too.

Something is definately using all your memory just gotta find out what. I use cacheman xp to monitor ram usage. It's an old program but works well.

Just in case you are not aware, the box in the Task Manager called "PF Usage" is not actually Page File usage. It is actually total memory usage including RAM and PF. If you are seeing activity there it is normal and if that number is less than your physical RAM then things should be ok. Your Charge Commit limit should equal the physical RAM in the system plus your configured page file (which may vary if you let Winblows manage it). If you see your total charge commit reaching the limit then you have a problem.
