Question Hole in antistatic bag

For my new build the 2 HDD's that I ordered were OEM so they both came in just anti static bags. One has a tiny hole in it over the HDD label, I've heard if one of these bags gets a hole in they don't protect against static electricity. Is my hard drive screwed over?

Youll probably be fine as long as you didn't touch the drive through the hole too much when walking around on a carpet.

I got a 4870 delivered a few days ago and that also had a tiny hole in the bag in the corner. The cards edge had pushed through. I had gotten it out the box and walked about with it a bit before I noticed, but thankfully its ok.

When I worked at pc store, we would do this so we could see teh serial number. Not to worry, really. Never seen a HDD damaged from this.

Agreed. Do not worry about it. It will be just fine.

Unless it was exposed to all the rain we've been having lately, not to worry.

lol. Almost sounds a bit like you work in Frankensteins laboratory...well except for the fuzzy carpet. I guess these components are pretty tough after-all.

The times have changed. Electrostatic shock does not occur very often anymore. Just take good precautions when handling electronics. If there's a little tear here or there, or you have shag carpet everywhere in your house, you know the drills...
