Default Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L No Signal To Monitor

I received my pc parts this week and just tried to get it up and running for the weekend only to find I can't get a signal from my pc to my monitor. I had it in my case already too go and got no love so I've taken it from the case set the mother board on my desk on a piece of card board. all i have connected is power switch, speaker, one stick of ram, video card, hard drive cpu and heat sink. It still won't send a signal to the monitor, i've tried resetting the cosmos, took the battery out for an hour or so, I've tried booting with no ram and or no video card and i receive no beeps, I also took the heatsink off and reseated it. is this motherboard DOA?

I doubt it's DOA......

Best guess is that you need to flash your bios with a different proc for it to recognise a new 45nm proc.

I don't have access to another cpu atm. is there away around this without getting another cpu?

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2629

so an older p4 chip should work in this mobo? i might have one of those around here somewhere.

NCIX FORUMS - this board and 45nm LGA 775 Xeons - Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L ATX LGA775 P35 1333...

this thread states it should be working out of the box without flashing.

try taking all the ram except 1 stick out. Then boot, and set the 2.0V in the BIOS. Remember this boards BIOS has the secret hidden settings. ctr + F1 unlocks them.

Thx Cptn Vortex, I've been booting with a single stick of ram, I've tried 4 sticks of ram in each of the 4 rams slots. I've rebooted this pc 20-30 times or more with all the different hardware variations i've tried and i've never once even seen the bios screen or anything besides black ... monitor keeps saying it has no signal and it won't turn on.

I'd try it with an older S775 chip just to see. Could be you got an older stock board with an earlier bios version.

If you've already tried different sticks of mem, that'd be the first place I'd go (assuming you've already done a c-mos reset).

Default DS3L cpu support

DS3 & DS3L are not the same and use different bios versions. Here is the link to the cpu support list for the DS3L.

GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - CPU Support List - GA-P35-DS3L (rev. 2.0)

The only Xeon that I see supported at this time is the X3110. IMHO I don't think that you're going to be able to use your cpu with the DS3L.

Anybody else know anything different?

My DS3L never beeps, screams or whistles no matter what I do to it. I don't think there is an on board speaker that I've found.
