My System Specs

Default wireless card sutting out.

I've recently started using the wireless on my Asus Z87-Expert, and it works quite well, but it will disconnect frequently between 30 and 90 minutes. I have the newest drivers, I've tested with my phone, and it stays connected throughout the disconnects, the antenna is connected securely and is in a good place. any thoughts on what might be gong on and how to fix it? it's making gaming nearly impossible since I never know when it's just going to go away for a minute or 2.

Exclamation check settings

Have you checked the settings for your wireless adapter? Iv had issues in past were green feature would cut wireless on desktop or powersave. If it isnt happening on cell/tablet then id say there is setting in network adapter thats cutting power. Check network then right click properties on wireless card then properties again inside window that pops up. see if any power saving or ''green'' setting is on.

There is another setting but it's in screen saver / power options in advanced settings were it can also cause this issue.

Other then those not sure what else would cause the disconnect unless the wireless card is bad. Iv had this happen on wired network when I had a killer nic.

I just swapped the 2 wires, and it seems to have helped. I haven't seen any drop outs yet. anyone have experience with how those wireless cards work, and if the wire placement matters?

so, it seems to be happening when I'm watching youtube videos, playing games, or using chat things like TS or skype.

If possible only thing left to rule it out is try a usb wireless stick see if that has any issues.

unfortunately, my computer doesn't seem to like the USB wireless card that I was going to test with. my phone was able to tether seamlessly until I started torrenting at which point it gave out and stopped working entirely until I turned it off and started back up. right now it seems a lot like it's an issue with the card. but I really hope not since everything else on the MB works fine and I would really like to keep it.

Yeah hate when one part of system goes but ruling it out through these tests may help with rma. Most painfully part to Rma is a motherboard after its all put together set up then having to uncrimp cables. And disasemble it.
