My System Specs

Default Computer crashing when compressing and saving videos

Well i was recording some Tf2 and i was recording it at 720p (barely) and then i start saving and compressing it to .avi,h264 and my computer crashes every time i try (crashes as in does not respond and the editing program (open shot for ubuntu 13.10) closes) could it be that my computer it just too bad to do that or is it something else, please help

You need a few GB of free ram or more. Some compression codecs will work better on systems with limited memory. More likely than not it is your [lack of] memory that is the problem, but it could be something else. Try different settings or different codec/program.

thanks, but i tried another format but it turned out very laggy :( (like more then it already was)

use ramdisk to buffer cpu and got current drivers for hardware

You did see the part about a 380w power supply that is probably only as good as a 250w

Thanks, maybe one day i'll get a better comp and get back to recording
