My System Specs

Default Win 7 USB install BSOD

Hey guys,

Just trying to wrap my head around this,

Installing W7 (digital river) from USB on the following system:

Intel e2120
Asus P5Q Pro
4GB OCX DDR3 (and tried 2x1gb Hynex)
Multiple GPU's
Laptop HDD for now

Ati cards, the screen goes black right after loading windows... I think this is a display adapter issue? maybe missing drivers?

nVidia cards: BSOD after loading windows and getting to the flying window part of install with the following message:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I'm going to try a different sata port for the HDD, and re-seat the dimms in the other slots tonight, but i cant think of any reason why it wouldnt work??

The above is usually a ram or HDD issue correct?

sounds like it could be memory issues or perhaps the boot drive is messed up.

I've formatted the USB disk a few times, to make sure.
I might just pick up a cheap optical and try to install from the disk, but I have a feeling its a ram issue...
Fingers crossed its a ram issue, or the HDD i want to use is plugged into a sata port that isnt working well.

We'll see..

Anyone want to take wagers?

update:
Motivation: Miner is up and running.
The culprit? the e2200 I was using in it. Threw the Q9550 in and it worked famously.

Very weird.
Maybe time for a new, cheap CPU :D
