My System Specs

Default laptop sound from external AND internal speakers?

Is it possible?

I have a small subwoofer that I want to use with my laptop's speakers. If I connect to the sub from the headphone jack, the speakers are muted, and i just get the low end from the sub.
I don't think there is a way to "un-mute" the speakers if I use the headphone port.

But what if I use this:

NEW Virtual 5 1 3D Sound USB TO Audio Microphone Card Adapter FOR PC | eBay

If I have speakers plugged into this, will I still get sound from my laptop's internal speakers or will they be muted?

I have an acer 7720Z and Realtek HD audio....neeeeed bass.

I don't think an external card will work for you as the pc will still send sound to only one or the other. At least that's the way it works with an internal sound card.

My last laptop had realtek audio and I was able to just go to settings and disable jack detection, then I could use the internal speakers and external speakers.

Otherwise you could try this.

My laptop doesn't have jack detection. It looks you either get laptop speakers or external/headphones - never both. So....I ended up using a fairly loud headrush speaker and the subwoofer via a miniplug Y splitter.

Not ideal, but sounds much better. My laptop speakers are inaudible below 300Hz. With the subwoofer I can hear 30Hz.
