sold a forum member a 6970 and he says its lagging compared to a 560 any ideas

In what context? A particular game or..?

BradM April 13, 2013 10:49 PM

Im the one that got the card but its lags on every game like it glitches and freezes even on all low settings with anti aliasing disabled and anything else disabled that may slow it down

YukonTrooper April 13, 2013 10:53 PM

Do the simple checks first: make sure the card is seated properly, check temps, uninstall and reinstall drivers. Try older drivers as well.

Also, if you have another computer around, or access to a friend's computer, you can quickly confirm if the problem lies with your own rig or with the card.

I have done all that and i cant try it in another system cause its water cooled and the temps are between 25 to 30 degrees and ive tried beta and new drives and i have re seated the card like 10 times

YukonTrooper April 13, 2013 11:09 PM

Create a new partition, install a dual-boot OS and test the card in a fresh environment. That way you can eliminate the software side of things without having to format your existing OS partition.

If you have an empty hdd laying around, use it to do a fresh windows install (without activating, obviously) and try the games out. That way you'd at least find out if it is something in software throwing things off.

Edit: Yukon beat me to the same suggestion :P

Ugh. Those things are absolute junk! Its like a 400w power supply when all is done.

BradM April 13, 2013 11:25 PM

I was gonna try a silver stone 850 watt cause a family member has one lying around
