Back when I was learning like the OP I did something very similar and had my Athlon Xp 1700+ shutting down on me. Turned out to be an improperly seated heatsink. Somehow that CPU is still running after all the abuse I gave it, in a workshop web browsing box ... In an unheated garage, full of dust.

Id redo the proc thermal paste it most likely very dry 2 clean out the ram slots with a small paint brush of any dust check to see if any of the capacitors are bulging make sure all the power connections and sata connections are okay and are not broken and check the face offs on the motherboard are all there and motherboard is connected secure ps but not to tight
thats what id do if i had the same problem with a customers pc

A process of elimation to find problems
