Default Bootmgr missing

Hi all, just built a PC with all new parts, and all parts are recognized in the BIOS. However when I boot from the OEM Windows 7 disk, it gives me the bootmgr missing error. Defective disk? Should I RMA it or is there another fix?

Did you try to reinstall the OS? Does it every time? No OC? Try reducing the amount of ram to one stick until the OS is installed.

Edit: This might help if it's not a hardware issue.

If you have no OS installed on your ssd/hdd then that is the error you would receive if the machine was to try to boot from one of those drive..

Did you set your boot order in the BIOS to boot from the DVD drive.
Do you have multiple ssd's/hdd's drives installed? If so make sure the one your trying to boot from is the one listed in the boot order in the BIOS.
Do you have multiple optical drives installed? If so make sure the one your trying to boot from is the one listed in the boot order in the BIOS.

Only have one HDD and one drive installed, and boot priority was set to the DVD Drive

it seems to me that it is trying to boot from a hard drive and not the disk, when the screen comes up it should show something like " press any key to boot from disk" or something like that and if you don't press any keys then it will try to boot from the hard drive and if there is no OS or a corrupt OS on the hard drive you will most likely receive that error :)

Sounds to me like your OEM Windows disc is corrupt .
Do you have any other bootable dvd's to try in the drive?

You did hit the ANY KEY at the cd\dvd prompt right.

Yeah I took it out, when prompted with Boot Disk Error: Put Boot Disk in and Hit Enter I did, would take me to the CD/DVD BOOT: _ and eventually Bootmgr is missing
I've put the OEM disk in other pc's and all the files are on the disk (including bootmgr) so I'm thinking it might be the drive?

See if other PC's will actually BOOT from the disc. bootmgr might be a visible file structure but completely corrupt.
If it does, disconnect the HDD completely and see if it can boot with no other options available.

Do you have bios set to raid, ahci, or IDE?
