2.5inch drive question

Hi ! At the back of my 2.5inch HDD there are the connectors... but there's one where there's nothing connected to it ! There is one "long" one internaly "separated". but next to it, there are some pins just hanging there !
The drive works fine, and it seems to me those pins are for power supply, but how can it work when there is nothing connected to it ?
Thanks !

I believe you're talking about the jumpers, when configured a certain way, they'll cap the drive at a certain I/O speed, usually 1.5Gb/s

Those pins are probably proprietary connections from the manufacturer of your drive. They use them for troubleshooting and fault finding, among other features like data recovery options.

Edit: or its jumpers...but I think most drives got away from those for a while now, depends on the age of the drive.
