Question 2 Hybrid Drives in RAID0 (Steam Drive)

I'm planning to put two Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drive's in a on-board RAID0 for a Steam Drive.
Does anyone know of any problems I might have putting two Hybrid drives together in RAID0?

just tweaks fast access going that route

  • Boots and performs like an SSD1
  • Up to 3× faster than a traditional HDD1
here 's the kicker
(1) performance may vary depending on User's hardware configuration and
OS, testing performed on Monmentus XT 750GB SSHD

the marketting BS = (1) this drive does this speed but we aren't tellling you how did it or what we used to achieve this speed

Angry 2x Seagate Momentus XT 750GB RAID0 died after 10 months

Just posting this message as i could not find a definite answer - is RAID0 on 2x SSHD a BAD idea?

I bought 2x Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drives in DEC-2012 and put them in a RAID0. I ran several Virtual machines from it and stored static files. It ran fast as expected, however both drive started to show data corruption.

I had 3 partitioned, one partition held virtual machine/drives, other 2 static files. Only the partition containing large virtual disk showed data corruption. I checked individual file with bootable SEATOOLS (LONG TEST), it confirmed drives are BAD.

I know any drive can go bad at any time. But just trying to find if any one else had RAID0 on SSHDs and drives failed. I hope someone got this post and can post their experience/ideas. Thanks.

Its simply not worth it. You won't see the benefits you want. And I'm really not sure how these hybrid drives would in RAID overall.
