Storage drive doesn't show up..
Just finished building a new gaming PC which contains 1 M4 Crucial SSD and a 1TB storage drive. For installing the OS, I only had the SSD in just so I wouldn't accidentally install it onto the HDD which was meant for storage. Everything went well and I rebooted and Windows had installed successfully. Then it came to inserting the storage drive. I went into the UEFI BIOS (Using the P67 Sabertooth here..) and for some reason the only drive in the booting order list was the storage HDD. However, when I reset and just let it boot, it goes into windows, but the HDD isn't on the list of available storage devices.

Anyone know what's up? Is it anything to do with putting the right drive in the right SATA port?

Thanks for any help.

First off, when you installed windows to your SSD, did you make sure you were set to AHCI within your bios rather then IDE, not doing this will prevent trim to properly work.

Your HDD won't show in available storage until a partition is created and it has been formated. If you've done that, then I have no idea what the problem is yet :(

OHHH that's it Arkilion, I didn't make a partition. Can I make one now or do I have to reinstall windows and create a partition then?

Load up your computer, right click on "my computer" select "manage"

Go down to "Disk Management"

You'll see your unformatted drive there, the rest should be self explanatory

You can create/modify/remove a partition almost whenever you want. You can use something like PartitionWizard, which always worked well for me.

Edit: Oh,well, Perineum was faster than me ^^'
