I'm using the stock cooler that came with the CPU.

I did the memtest but both of the sticks were fine. I also did the stress test for the GPU on furmark but I got 1 fps on it.. I'm guessing the that it is the GPU that is overheating to cause the freezing? Nothing was wrong with anything. I even re installed Windows 7 twice. I've updated to the latest drivers for the GPU as well.

You never did say if the cpu heatsink was cleaned. Check it and if it is dirty give it a good clean. The stock thermal paste should still be fine. Heat would be my first thought on what would cause the problem. Otherwise it could be any number of things.

I wouldn't think memory if it is only happening in game. I would lean more towards a motherboard/ powersupply problem if its not a heat issue.

I just cleaned it yesterday and now I'm going to game for a while to see if it'll still lock up.

Okay. So I was gaming and I noticed that the freezing was mostly occurring when I left the computer idle. Could be a heat issue.
