Deleted file from recycling bin but still no free space?

I am running bootcamp on my macbook pro and I deleted some files like game folders. I have also used control panel to uninstall a game in order to free up room.

I have deleted 4gb game and also another big folder but my partition says I have only 1.09gb free. How is this possible ?

I tried restarting the laptop and seeing if that would fix it and it does not. Recycling bin is empty and If I try to copy something, it says needs more space.

Running W7 on bootcamp. Could the harddrive be failing?

Try running Tree Size. You can get a free version here: TreeSize Free - Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs

It can give you a much more detailed look at what is using up the space on your drive.

Spacesniffer and Spacemonger are also good programs to use, probably the same as TreeSize. Not sure which one's best though!

i would also check out 2 other things.

1. Pagefile, see how much space it's taking up
2. System restore

yes the system restore if turned on uses allot of space, which is why I do a back up once a week to a seperate drive and never turn system restore on,

well unless it was turned off manually it's enabled by default. When i installed a fresh install on my imac in bootcamp it was already eating up 600MB of space.

That's not what he's asking guys. He KNEW how much space the game was eating up. He deleted it. And yet there is no additional free space on the HDD.

The question was: WHY?

They also never said how much space was assigned to windoww which can play a huge role.
