What are normal Read/Write rates for SandForce SF-2281 SSD's on SATA II?
I've just purchased an adata 60gb s510 ssd for my sata II system and everything seems fine until I checked its read speed. I'm only peaking at around 150 mb/s.
Should the rate be higher?
What software were you using to test your SSD? AS SSD is a punishing software. Try ATTO and/or Crystal Disk Mark.
In addition, I think your motherboard/chipset 7xx, could also have an adverse effect on your SSD - and the ability to TRIM properly.
Ahh... I did update the chipset drivers instead of using microsoft's. I guess I may have to uninstall them and hope that it's not a hardware limitation. I did check to see if trim is working through the command line. It does seem to be on. ACHI is enabled in the bios too. Two other hard drives and a dvd drive is connected to all 4 of my sata ports.
I was using HD tune to get the average values. Here are my results for the other benchmarks.
For SATA II on an AMD chipset, especially an 7XX, those numbers are pretty good. I would not be concerned.
the s510 has some pretty low end flash on it i bought 2 and returned them the next day they are not very fast at all for sandforce 2281 controller because of the flash hence why adata launched the s511 right after those read and writes where the same i got on a z68 chipset there about as fast as the old indilinx ssd
