Unhappy HDD Problem: Second Physical Drive Not Showing Up (URGENT)

My "D:" drive which is my second drive and used as storage is not showing up in Windows Explorer when clicking on Computer, however, when going to:

Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management

The "D:" drive shows up there. And, when I right click and choose Explore, I am able to get into the drive fine under Windows Explorer.

So, how do I get it to show up again?

I once got that issue, tried the freezer trick but didn't help. Turned out my GF's 10k WD was dead.

The drive isn't dead, it's working fine.

Obvious response, but did you restart?

Otherwise look for the NoDrives key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer

This key should be set to "0" to show all drives.

Yes, I did restart. And, after I read your post, I restarted again, this time it showed up. Seems to have been an issue with Windows itself, because the BIOS was seeing both drives.

If no applications are tied to "D:\", I'd say try giving it a new drive letter using Disk Management.
