1. Try not to build your PC while standing on carpet. 2. If you build/tweak/upgrade a PC on carpet, discharge static electricity by holding your Powersupply for a few seconds. Hope it boots up first shot Good job on going custom !

3. Remove all children and pets from the room and contain them somewhere else for the duration of assembly and testing. 4. Keep beverages as well as greasy/slimy/etc foods away while assembling. 5. Keep all pornographic material away from yourself during build! (Things like electronics and PC/gaming mags/catalogs and such) Heh, I think we need a "Things to do/not do while building your new rig" thread for this stuff.

Make sure your front panel headers (power switch, reset etc) are on properly. I reversed the polarity (put the - in the + pin and the + in the - pin) and pushed the power button, only to have nothing happen. I freaked out until I realized my n00b mistake...good times.

ok cool it booted up without a hitch I was a little nervous when it booted and was asking for a cd then press enter I pressed enter and nothing happened luckily I realized that my keyboard is usb so I had to dig under my bed to grab my old faithful Dell Keyboard plugged that in and tried to install the chip sets which didn't work because I had no OS installed yet so after a long 1hr of formatting ( wasn't sure if I needed to or not so I decided it wouldn't hurt) installed the OS the chip set now I am wondering about the Video drivers I bought the HIS 3870 Ice and it came with a disk but not sure whether to use that or to go download new drivers? on a side note since this computer is in my room right across from my bed I am wondering how I am going to be able to block the Bright Blue Light coming from the Gigabyte 570 Aurora case Aurora must stand for Aurora Borialese ( can't speed because of the adrenalin slowly pumping through my veins

Newer drivers will be better than the ones on the vid card disk, but you might want to stick with 8.2 cats rather than the newest 8.3 for now (lots of folks have complained about poor performance with the latest drivers). While you're at it, google & download the latest Riva Tuner to control your vid card fan speed if you find you're having overheat problems once you start to OC.
