Question Aliased text/graphics when playing full screen games

This issue is really driving me up the wall. I got a new graphics card for my rig, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560TI by EVGA and everything seems to be running fine.

I have the computer connected to a 46" Sony Bravia KDL-46EX500 via Mini-HDMI to HDMI and am running at 1920x1080. I have ensured that my graphics drivers are fully up to date.

The problem comes whenever I try to run any fullscreen games, and I do mean ANY...Morrowind, Oblivion, Bioshock, Starcraft 2, Just Cause 2, CoD4, and countless others. When the game is running in fullscreen mode, all of the graphics become aliased and the text becomes unreadable.

As one may expect, this issue is only when playing in fullscreen and runs just fine in windowed mode.. And it doesn't matter what resolution. I've tried changing resolution, vsync, sync rate, ive fuddled with all the TV settings. No dice. After reading around a bit trying to find a solution, I'm beginning to wonder if it has to do with the motherboard...it's an oooold Asrock 939Dual-Sata2 and the last BIOS update was in 2006...but the mobo/pcu upgrade to go along with this gfx card isnt for a few months so I'd like to explore other possibilities.

I honestly don;t even know where to start on this one, help is much apreciated.

interesting. what mhz are you running the display at ?
60 / 120 ?

also if you try like 1600 x 900 does the problem go away ?

the motherboard shouldn't have anything to do with the problem, since its between the video card and the tv

Sounds like you are suffering from the fact that 1920 x 1080 for TVs are not the same as 1920 x 1080 for computers. You are going to have to adjust the settings either in nvidia control panel or change the input of your tv from 16:9 or 16:10 to just scan. Just Scan (or whatever the company may call it) allows the TV to compensate for the fact its not getting what its used to as a 1080p signal and converts it so that it is one.

Thanks for the suggestions. The TV is a 120hz tv but it obeys the gqame settings and runs at 60 when the games running. Changing vsync, or forcing different framerates from the control panel doesn't resolve the issue. I should also mention that my normal desktop resolution is 1920x1080 as well and there's no issue when running my ocmputer normally at that resolution.

I've searched through ever nook and cranny of my tv's settings menus and can;t find anything like scan or else any way to manually change the aspect ratio as you mentioned. Could you be more speicifc about things to try in the nvidia control panel? The only settings I could find wer eunder the 3d settigns and had to do with antialising....these did not fix the issue either.
